Claude Code skills for Redis
Redis skills for caching that invalidates correctly, rate limiting, queues, pub/sub, locks and the data-structure choices that keep memory bounded. Architecture skills that lean on Redis are included.

- 1
Redis Patterns
Caches, limits and locks that survive a flush
Claude decides first whether Redis is a cache, a coordination layer or a primary store, and configures eviction and persistence to match. Keys get a naming scheme and TTLs, caches invalidate after commit with jitter and stampede guards, locks release only with an owner check, rate limiters run as atomic Lua, and memory problems are traced with --bigkeys and MEMORY USAGE instead of KEYS.
- 2
Lua Scripting
Lua for Neovim, Redis and game hosts, minus the globals
Claude first pins down which Lua it is writing for (LuaJIT in Neovim, 5.1 in Redis, Luau in Roblox, 5.4 or 5.5 standalone) and avoids syntax the host cannot run. It keeps every variable local, uses one shape per table, builds classes with __index, passes Redis keys through KEYS for cluster safety, and catches errors with pcall at the host boundary.

Realtime WebSockets and SSE
Live connections that scale out and recover on their own
Claude picks SSE or WebSockets from the actual traffic pattern, authenticates the handshake with cookies plus origin checks or short-lived tickets, and adds heartbeats tuned below every proxy idle timeout. Slow clients get disconnected before they exhaust memory, events fan out through a broker so any instance can deliver them, and clients reconnect with jitter and resume from a sequence number.

Bun Runtime
Adopt Bun one role at a time, with proof
Claude treats Bun as four separate tools and adopts the low-risk ones first: package manager, then test runner, then bundler, then runtime. It commits the text lockfile, freezes it in CI, audits blocked install scripts, writes Bun.serve handlers with graceful shutdown and raised idle timeouts, and proves Node compatibility with the real suite and a staging image before anything ships.

Cache Invalidation
Staleness budgets, closed races, no stampedes
Claude sets a staleness budget for each kind of cached data and picks invalidation from it: TTL only, delete after commit, versioned keys, or change-data-capture events. It closes the reader-writer race that leaves stale values in place until expiry, protects hot keys with single flight, early refresh and stale-while-revalidate, and adds hit ratio and staleness sampling so freshness is measured, not hoped for.
Rate Limiting
Atomic limits, honest headers, clients that back off
Claude chooses the algorithm, key and enforcement layer for each goal, whether that is abuse at the edge, plan limits at the gateway or business rules in the app, and implements distributed limits as single atomic Redis scripts using server time. Rejections return 429 with Retry-After, limits roll out in shadow mode first, and fail-open or fail-closed is decided per limit.
Install
Every Redis skill in one command
Installs into ~/.claude/skills/. Add --project after -- to install into the current repository.
curl -fsSL https://claudeskills.page/install.sh | sh -s -- redis-patterns lua-scripting realtime-websockets cache-invalidation rate-limiting bun-runtime testcontainers paas-deploys Redis skills FAQ
What is the best Claude Code skill for Redis?
Start with Redis Patterns: Caches, limits and locks that survive a flush. Then add Lua Scripting and Realtime WebSockets and SSE, which cover the next most common Redis requests.
How do I install all 8 Redis skills at once?
Pass every name to the installer in one command: curl -fsSL https://claudeskills.page/install.sh | sh -s -- redis-patterns lua-scripting realtime-websockets cache-invalidation rate-limiting bun-runtime testcontainers paas-deploys. Add --project to install them into the current repository's .claude/skills/ folder so your team gets them too.
Do these Redis skills work outside Claude Code?
Yes. Each skill uses only the portable Agent Skills frontmatter, so the same folder works on claude.ai, through the Claude API and in the Agent SDK. Skills that run bundled scripts need an environment with code execution.
